What is the difference between an identifying relationship between two tables and a non identifying relationship?

Thanks guys,

Cal

Indicates the difference between a one to one relationship and a one to many relationship. An identifying relationship means the primary key on one table is also used as the primary key on another table (ie the second table can only have one unique value (1-1)). A none idenfiying relationship means that the primary key on one table is used as a foreign key on another table (there can be more than one foreign key (1-many)on the second table).
Hope this helps,
CD
