I have a database set up in Oracle 8i for NT now, and I wrote an SQL script to populate it. Now, I need to set it up to be shared over the network (I'm connecting with Perl) under the SID=MIKE. I'm not a dba, but a programmer, but I have to set this up as a test env. I need the easiest way to get this thing to listen on the netowrk. Security and stuff is no big deal, all I'm doing is replicating one table into a local mysql database, and the back-end of the perl script is finished. All I need to do is set up the listener, username, and password on the NT box that will allow my perl program to connect. I'm using the DBD::Oracle, not the ODBC deal. Any help is appreciated, as I've wasted too much time on this already!

Thanks
Mike B.

Hi Mike,

Have you gone through the process to set up the Oracle listener and is the service running?
