And here's another...

the JPEG compression on the 3x big images is really noticable around the text, and looks horrible, I'd live with the increased file size just to see this gone. Yo're currently at 60% compression - which is really low... I normally save around 80-85%.

Because form elements don't style in Safari, the "go" button next to the search box has a white background - which looks out of place... consider removing this with a Safari CSS hack (if one exists?).

The yellow link hover colour against a white background is really unreadable. This seriously needs darkening up.

Consider asking the .com.au site for a reciprocal link. It might improve SEO, but at very least it shows that they care about promoting you as much as you do about them :)

The left-hand nav has some strange behaviour (well, it's not logical to my mind)... If you go into "Hints & Tips", and select "Writing a great CV", the "Download a CV template" option is highlighted, even though you're not in that section.

On the "contact" page, the input boxes are barely visible against the light blue background. I think maybe you need to check out the contrast / accessibility guidelines...

Hope this helps,
Dan

Yes, those 3 images have been bugging me but I've been so snowed under that I've not been bothered to fix them. Damn you for calling me out ! ;)

Thanks, you reminded me about the Safari 'Go' button thing.
I have plans to change the button to an image (see above).

The left nav behaviour is logical (kind of). Download a CV Template page is in the same subsection as the Writing a CV page. It should be the case that all siblings get coloured with the same colour with the active page being a little darker.

It seems that you have picked up 3 things there that are down to colour/contrast issues. Interestingly, though I admit the contrast isn't perfect, it did seem enough to me. Then again I am using an Apple Cinema Display but even my Macbook and cheapo TFT screens show enough difference.

I'm going to give the colours a tweak anyway at the first opportunity though.

Thanks!

Hey, here's my two-cents:

[ol]
[li]The logo looks odd. The entire right-side is all while; underneath the logo (left of the nav bar) is all while. makes it seem the logo is just floating around, and (to me at least) a bit distracting from the site. I would either extend the logo the full width or shift the nav bar to the right side.[/li]
[li]The 'job search' box looks too big.[/li]
[li]IE6 in EMPLOYERS, NEWS, and CONTACT I get a JS error. Looking at the error code it resolves to (or close to) the function prepPoll(). Oddly enough, if I take the poll the JS errors stop and the page loads fine.[/li]
[li]Some pages on your site fail the W3C validator test (for example: home page, contact page)[/li]
[li]I like the color scheme, font style for the right and left side content.[/li]
[/ol]

Could you show me a screenshot of what you mean in point 1?

I do need to go through and fix some validation issues that have crept in. I've already done a few on my development version so hopefully it won't be long before I can push that into the live site.

Foamcow, sure but I can't do that now (don't have access to my personal web server to upload the image) cause i'm at work. But I will do this later tonight.

But my thought was either:
1) Make the logo the same width as the layout so it extends to the full view
-OR-
2) Move the nav bar up to the right of the logo, so that both items appear the same horizontally.

No probs. Whenever you can manage it.

It sounds like you are seeing some kind of layout glitch.

That's exactly how it should be except for the missing links in IE (I'll investigate those).

That logo is how it's meant to be from a brand perspective.

Lookin' good, as ever, Foamy.

I think ypu should consider adding title attributes to that row of logos on the front page - if they're worth putting on, it's worth telling folk what they are. The only one I can read easily is the Macmillan one, and I don't see how it's relevant to a recruitment site.
