Anyone have any suggestion for a Network Management software?

Stay cool; it’s not over yet!

Lots of threads on this, but I understand that the search function isn't working right.

Openview, Tivoli, Unicenter, Nagios, Big Brother/Sister, NMIS, JFFNMS, OpenNMS, N-Vision to name a few.

First, decide what you want to have the system do, and what you want to see in it. Then find one what works. We have N-Vision (more of a systems monitor than network), and I use NMIS, Nagios and Cacti. Each does slightly different things.

Thanks.

You can also try AdventNet WebNms. It has cool features

From a hardware aspect - we recently started using a piece of hardware - datanab barionet - to monitor our server rack temps and send snmp alerts.

For freeware-tools I can also propose Scotty from Technical University Braunschweig in Germany. It depends, what you want to do. For most SNMP-based stuff its sufficient and can be used on all common platforms - though Linux-machines are ideal to use.

So why wasting all the money ...
