Monitoring Server which IP is configured to disable IP Ping

Hi,

I'm new in Network Node Manger, HP Openview.
Currently we are using NNM 7.01. I add one IP server in NNM which the system administrator configured it in such a way that nobody can ping its IP number. The server itself is active and its IP is up. However , in NNM the server icon show it is down (red in color) . Is there anyway i can detect its connectivity wether it is up or down?
