Hi, I haven't used DELL servers or their PERC cards too much in the past but just started a new job where it's pretty much DELL exclusively...

All of the servers are RAID 1 or 5 using the DELL PERC cards. Do these cards of have any capability for sending notifications when a drive goes bad?

I'm used to using the 3ware cards where I can specify an email address and SMTP server via a client on the server in order to receive notification of any events that come from the RAID system.

Yep they support SNMP notification, easiest is to use a combination of Dell OpenManage Server Administrator (local install which picks up the notifications - also installs the RAID management software) and OpenManage IT Assistant (central console you point the server Admin installs at which can then email/page notifications).

If you use some other management software I think you can just get the MIBs from Dell to.
