I know that I was looking for a way (other than manually telnetting in or physically looking at the NIU) to monitor our point to point circuit's performance. One side of our tandem setup has a Magix INA board installed.
Since this board is based on the Livingston/Lucent PortMaster (e.g. - the ComOS) there is an MIB tree available that allows you to utilize SNMP monitoring tools to check status variables.
For those of you into the data world as well, check out for downloading the livingston.mib file. Then you can use any basic SNMP monitoring program to see what's going on. I personally use a freeware product called MTRG ( This regularly polls SNMP status variables and posts them to web pages. Just configure it and let it run.
Just an FYI if anyone out there has an INA board and wants some free tools for monitoring things. The freeware MRTG program even has alert threshold notification...
