I am trying to monitor about 100 or so compaq servers, 170+ compaq clients (workstations and desktops), about 65 Dell servers - Various numbers but all power edge and a few Precision Workstations
CIM server is running on a DELL Precision 530MT (Win2k SP1, dual 1.7Gb Xeons, 60GB IDE drive, internal NIC, Matrox G200MMS, 512MB RAM) - Browser is being run on same box and is IE6 (don't ask why - it just is)

Compaqs with agents installed No problems - picks up everything through DMI.
Dells - Driving me mad (nothing new there)

The dells have Server assistant running on them
I have downloaded, expanded, uploaded and registered all the Dell MIB's in CIM7 and the only way I can get the dell to be recognied as a server is to setup a New SNMP Device type (in tools) and get it to recognie the version of server assistant that is running on the dell in question. This still doesn't give me any information though. I need temps and processor utilization amongst other things.

With Dell Openmanage Server administrator running on the dell I can happily browse all the info I want and if i install Openmanage console on another PC I can monitor the dells with all information.
SNMP is setup to send traps to CIM console and everything is using public as a community name.

I'm pretty much brand new at Large scale monitoring (been doing IT for over a decade tho) and a bit stuck.

Are there MIF's available from Dell so I can use DMI and get informaton that way or does it have to be done through MIBs and SNMP

So any help anybody could give me would be very much appreciated.

Apologies for the length of this but I always want as much info as pos when I help other people out.

There are MIB's aviable from Dell. You have to register a server first on their website and there is then an option to download them.
