I am having an issue with a minotr my brother gave me tot ry and fix. I cannot figure this out.

It is a CTX S800BJ. I cannot find a proper driver to begin with, but I guess the plug and play aspect will suffice.

The problem is: when you push the button on the monitor or if the PC tries to put the monitor in standby mode, the screen goes white. It then switches to a black screen and says No Sync, in red. Then it goes back to all white and stays there.

Shutting down, standby, pushing the power button. All have the same effect.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Can you explain a bit more - does the monitor actually work at all? (ie, does it come on, then go wrong after you press buttons etc).

Have you been into the monitors own settings (the on screen ones available from the buttons?)

The monitor works great otherwise. It runs fine, it is just the standby piece that is screwed up.

I have looked thru the onscreen functions, nothing stood out as being a problem.

Could be the power management on the PC? Look in control panel if you're using xp. Set the monitor standby to never.

I did that. What about when the PC shuts down? The monitor will not shut down or go into standby.

is the power button on the monitor one of those which has a plastic cover which has nbehind it a kind of plastic lever that pushes the actual power switch? sometimes they get sticky or wedged in and turning them on and off is a real 'mare.
Sounds like the circuits could be messed up too. What can you see when you take the case off the monitor(caveat, be real careful when you do this as there are things inside that could zap you pretty bad if you touch the wrong part etc etc usual disclaimer)
