Hi there,

We are getting timeout errors on our client pc's when we connect to our sql server database. We do not receive these errors on a regular basis, only sometimes. Are there any methods/tools available where one can monitor for timeout errors and troubleshoot these errors? We do not receive an error code with the message so it is really a difficult one this.

Any help pls!
Thanks,
J.

You may want to create a Performance Monitor (perfmon) log to track the needed meterics you are seeking. If a few items are tracked, the footprint is usually small and does not incurr much of a performance hit. BUT ... the more items you track could adversely effect performance. By default, perfmon tracks the meterics in 15 sec shots, so you may want to set that to a lower number in order to catch any fast anomolies, say in the 2-3 second span. I have my log set to recycle after the file size grows to a few meg or so in order not to fill the disk and to be able to view a much more managable file size.

Thanks
