Grace and Peace to all you wonderful people
I received a call that an important station number was receiving "All Circuits are down" when called.

It turned out to be a Shelf that was down and we had to reboot a switch.

1. How can I monitor all the shelves (or just 1 particular shelf)on the Hi-Path 4000 through Ammo and Assistant?

2. How can I see what Shelf is connected to what switch?

I would like to implement a series of checks , throughout the day , on the Hi-Path 4000 to monitor it on site and remotely.

Thank you all and have a Blessed Thanksgiving Holiday!!

Hi,
Grace and Peace to you too my friend.

There are a few ways to monitor the system.
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)

Checks every morning is another, using DIS-SIGNL:SYSTEM; to let you know of any errors.

But my favorite way is using a program called 'The Dude'
Using 'The Dude' it pings at regular intervals to all IP devices.
If any go down you can set it to email you as an alert.
IP Cards in shelves can be monitored this way.

Thank you , SBCSU.

Have a Blessed weekend

Hi.

You may use also AMOs: VADSU & AFR
With STA-HISTA; you will be able to see what alarms are active on system (according to threshold values from VADSU).

For example:
- you may set ALARMNO param. in TDCSU or in BCSU for a trunk or shelf .
- this ALARMNO must be set first in VADSU and assigned to a trunk/board/shelf (define threshold values) and then assign it in TDCSU/BCSU via ALARMNO param.
- so every time when threshold values will exceed the defined interval (in VADSU) an alarm will be generated and it can be seen with: STA-HISTA;
- e.g. 30 B-channels from 90 b-channels on a trunk are down or ... a station/stations goes in status DEFIL/UNACH etc.

Or in Assistant (Hipath/Openscape FM - Fault management - Alarm Configurator menu).

With AFR you can set-up communication error issue between Assistant - Manager or other monitoring tools.
