Monitor settings only 640 * 480 resolution possible

Hi!

Using:

VideoCard ATI RAGE 128 4LSD AGP
Monitor: Highscreen MS177OPII

I have the following problem:

My monitor settings dont go further then 640 * 480 resolution. What might be the cause of this?

Any help is very welcome!

thats the standard resolution for xp if no video driver is loaded. update/reinstall the driver, check device manager/msinfo32.exe for conflicts. make sure that xp picks up the monitor and doesnt say plug&play monitor.
