"Other than the power settings in the displat properties ?is there any place where these monitor settings are there? if at all any program is tring to keep the monitor ON how to find out which program is that??
thanks" - i dont get what you want to say here?

usually you set this in control panel/energy options!

hi lemon13 , usually everybody does the monitor settings in ControlPanel>powersettings or ControlPanel>display>screensaver>poweroptions.

i have done the same way. but my power settings are not working means my monitor is not switching off after 2 min, even though i set to switch off after 2 min.

when this is not happeneing i thought that some program inside my computer is making my monitor ON always. Thats what i meant, if u didnt understand mail me with your question and if u know answer my problem.
thanks

now i get it.
is the power profile is loaded on startup.
check msconfig/autostart for "load power profile.....". also your monitor must support it.

hi lemon can u tell me where that settings,
i didnt find any load power profile in msconfig
can u tell detailed path.
thanks for your reply

you wont find it in xp, its only in 9x/me.
i just tried with my xp, didnt do it also.
i checked bios that acpi was enabled, then the video card. i didnt have the driver installed (only standard xp driver), after installation it recognised my monitor too (before standard vga monitor) and its working now.

check the above stuff.

this might help.

thanks everybody for helping me,i got the problem sorted out, when i asked so many people some of them said that some program is making my monitor to keep continuosly ON,so i checked with one more computer running on xp and noted down all the programs which are system programs and important ones and then checkedf with my computer closed all which i felt would have caused problem. i just closed one after other, probably i am suspecting that Intel Application Accelerator is the culprit, when i uninstalled that program everything is working fine, thanks for all who helped me
