i have a desktop whose owner has a monitor where the resolution is set above 1024 x 768. I am trying to start the machine on my little 13" CRT. The screen starts normally with the IBM and XP splash screens but when it gois into windows i get no image other than a screen of what looks like interferance on an older TV.
Is it likley that the monitor cannot handle the res and therefore will not display?
TIA

that's it. changed monitors and all is well.

The other thing you could have done was to press F8 at start up and boot to VGA Mode and from there you could have set the correct max resolution for the monitor.

Cheers
Rob
