Upon borrowing a monitor to replace my burned out unit, I had problems getting the driver to "stick". Each time I booted up -- the OS would "find" new hardware and install it. The problem was, it was installing the default driver -- one with poor attributes. I could go into Device Manager, and remove it - leaving the good driver in place, and then the monitor worked fine -- that is until I again started the machine. Now, I have a brand new monitor, complete with a disk for installation. However, the exact annoying condition remains: It "found" new hardward (again and again) and reinstalled the default driver. Not good.
Any ideas as to how to fix this once and for all? I'm thinking about reloading the OS - but would really like to know just what is causing the problem.
Respectfully,
Gary
