Do any of you out there know any way to remotely (automatically) monitor a print queue and determine if a job is stuck?
I've found all kinds of related information (remotely list the printers on a server/workstation, remotely purge jobs from 1 or all print queues, etc) but I cannot find any assistance in regards to "stuck jobs".
Why do I need this you ask? Well, I have some "problem" label printers that just aren't going away nor will there stability be improved. And, well at least once a week I have to "clear stuck jobs" from at least one of the queues. (I do this by deleting the job and cycling the spooler -- which I can do remotely and automate). What'd I like to be able to do is handle this PROACTIVELY! (When a queue has a "stuck" job (been in queue for x minutes), kick off my clear scripts and/or send me an email)
