I have a user stating his outgoing and long distance calls are failing.

What command can I utilize to see what is happening?
(is there one to see how many of the 25 outgoing lines are being used at one time?)

list trace station <extension>

This will show you all of the activity for the station. You can have the user place a call, and see which line the call used to go outside.

The report is pretty detailed, and is likely to scroll right off the screen. Let it run, and let it keep going page after page. When you're done, enter the command:

list trace previous

This will re-play the last "list trace" command from the beginning so you can follow it more slowly.

thanks!

any additional commands to view how many active lines on the truck he gets for outgoing calls?

You can do a

status trunk-group <trunk group number>

command to see any other calls in progress in a trunk group. If a trunk is in service, it will show you the port that it is connected to. If you enter the command

display port <port location>

you'll be able to see all of the stations and other system objects that a trunk is connected to.
