I didn't know where else to post this, so it's ending up here.
I'm having some problems with some older monitors in our office. (The one I'm looking at right now is a Gateway200 Vivtron 17") I'm getting washed out colors, and streaks from frames in webpages, etc...
I know it's not the video card because I've tested the monitor out on 3 or 4 different systems (that was my first thought too.) Is there some way to degauss this monitor (and on other monitors that don't have that option) or a book or something that can teach me how to solve monitor problems. Technical books are good if anyone knows of any.
I work with a bunch of older men and women, and the larger monitors would be nice for their older eyes.
Any ideas or thoughts on where we could buy a bunch (5+) of monitors for real cheap would be appreciated. Bulk sales, auctions, etc... We are located near Spokane, Washington if that helps anyone out.
Thanks in advance for all the help.

Call the government people involved in recycling, as they likely have regular drop sights or semi-annual drop-offs of used computer equipment for recycling.
Ask who the third-party vendor is used for recycling computer equipment and parts, then call them.

Visit their site, and pick what you need.

Jonathon,

I wish you were WEST of the Cascades. I regularly stop in on RE-PE here in Seattle:

I bought black rack mount 4U cases with PS/CD/FD for $49.95, monitors ranging in price from $4.95 [yes, four-ninety-five!] to $39.95. If looks are not a concern, ATX cases are all over the place for $5~$10, with new ones going for $29.95~59.95 Maybe you should take a road trip out this way :)

BTW, I do NOT work for RE-PC. I just like to shop there. They also have a store in Tukwila, but the Seattle one is better....
