Hi:

I have installed ATI All In Wonder 9600 video card and after installing it I connected my monitor to VGA1. after doing that I find my monitor to be greenish.

I checked whether all the drivers were installed properly. everything is fine. but the monitor is greenish from the beginning.

Is it possible that BIOS doesnt recognises or supports my new device. I am confused

Check the monitor's cable connector, and make sure that there are no bent or broken pins.

I checked the monitor pins everything is fine. In fact I checked with two other montiors and I am getting the same greenish color.

I have installed my card in Dell GX150 machine.

Make sure that the previous video card was removed from Device Manager, and its software was uninstalled in Add/Remove Programs.

If that was already done or does not help, then see if an updated driver from the manuf's website fixes things.

Three monitors displaying greenish color suggests to me that the video card itself is defective and should be replaced.

But before replacing the card, I suggest you remove it and reseat it to see if that helps.

Sorry for being so ignorant, how do I find the old video card and delete it from the device manager and how to find the software in Add/Remove programs.

please help

I checked my device manager, I find the latest ATI drivers in the display adapters section. so how can I find my old adapters and delete them.

Go into "safe" mode. Bring up the device manager and you will see every driver, past and present. If you want, you can remove all video drivers and have Windows re-install the correct ones.

Does your card have a regular vga output and a DVI output? If so, does the green color happen using either connector? I am not sure exactly what a 9600 looks like but turn yours over and you should be able to trace the circuits back to some resistors (which are very tiny!) Look carefully, with a magnifying glass, to make sure that all the resistors are there. Using careful observation you should be able to tell the difference between a spot where a resistor has been knocked off and a spot where no resistor ever was. If you are handy with a soldering gun, just take a (very!)small peice of wire and solder it in where the resistor was. This should work and should make the circuit that displays red active again. I have fixed 2 cards this way in the last week, one was a Gainward Ti-4200 that displayed no red, and one was an ATI Fire Gl2 that displayed no green. I left both these cards in my computer, at separate times of course, with a hi-res screensaver for 24 hours and they both displayed just fine.
