Monitor in mandrake

Hi,
Iam using mandrake 9.1 . Earlier i was using samsung monitor which runs on 70 hz but now iam using a LCD monitor which runs on 60 hz . So plz gide how to change the display settings . I have changed setting in the file /etc/X11/XF86Config and /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 . but no success so pz help me its very urgent

You can change the monitor type from Gnome and select generic monitor with range 60 HZ.Good Luck...:)

hi iam not using a gui only console mode cui only secondly iam using mandrake not redhat
 
In the console mode on mandrake 9.1, you can type

drakconf

to enter the configuration panel. On that screen, you select

Display Configuration

then Tab to OK

on the following screen there are settings for graphics card, Monitor and resolution.

You should be able to select Monitor, then Tab to the DO button, select generic->AAAxBBB @60Hz.
