ive got a compaq 7500 monitor. it used to work, but now when i turn it on its only on for about 30 sec then it turns off for no reason. ive tried it on different computers but same thing happens. what is wrong and how can i fix it?

If it is under warranty get it fixed. If it is not under warranty then your best bet is to buy a new one. If it was a 21 inch monitor or a flat pannel it may be worth paying to get it fixed but since it is only a 17inch monitor it's very likely that it will cost about the same or a little more to get it fixed as buy a new one if it's just the circut board. If it's the crt then you will be paying more to get it fixed then to buy a new one.

Don't take it apart and try to fix it yourself. The copasitors hold a charge for a very long time and will blast you badly if you accidently touch them.
