Hello i hope you could help me as im at my wits end. I bought a Compaq Qvision 200 monitor yesterday from someone and managed to finaly get it home on the bus (20" - it was a struggle and i was drunk) Plugged it in and great working fi
ne. I turned up the refresh rate to about 150 (i was drunk) but the wee box saying hide modes this monitor cant handle etc was ticked. Next the screens went blank and im getting a GEN FAILURE notice in the wee lcd screen at the bbottom. I dont have a manula etc and cant find anything on it.

Anyone advise me? Have i blown it up you think?

thanks

You didn't mention what operating system you're running, but as long as it's a flavor of windows, you should be able to boot into safe mode which will only load the VGA driver set. Open the video properties and throttle the refresh rate back to a lower level (70Hz or so) and reboot into normal windows. You can then adjust the refresh rate a little at a time. Later versions of windows give you a chance to undo video changes by applying them for fifteen seconds and reverting if you don't click "OK".
