I've had a Sony flat screen monitor successfully attached to my Sony laptop (VGN BX195VP)for a couple of years. However, today after upgrading the RAM on the laptop, I can't get the secondary monitor to display properly. I've followed the XP display 'Help' and it shows that although both are correctly identified as '1'(laptop) and '2'(monitor), the monitor seems to be displaying only part of the laptop's display. For instance, if I select the 'Paint' program as a minimised box, I can drag it across the laptop's screen to the right and then it starts to appear to the left of the monitor and I can then continue to drag it/use it on the monitor. I've tried numerous setting changes via 'Display' in Control Panel, but I can't get the monitor to display properly. Very odd.

I believe you have the Display settings set to "Extend My Windows Desktop Onto this monitor"

Its a setting that appears under the main Settings Tab for the Display.

And then form The Advanced screen, using your video card's control panel, you should be able to clone the display.
