Well I think I have been transported back in time to the days of green screens.

My monitor has developed a green/yellow mask. It isn't a constant thing just when it feels like it.

I have tried wiggling the cable to see if it is a loose wire. well that seemed to work but nope not the answer. I tried the gentle tap but that only worked once.

if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

thanks.

Well I have seen this very same problem before and it usually stems from a bad contact between the monitor and the connector on the back of the computer. I would remove the monitor cable from the back of your computer and clean the pins as best you can. Then get a small pen file and lightly run it into the DB connector on the back of the PC. Then put the cable back in anc check to see if it's fixed. If there was some corrosion or dirt that had collected on the pins which made for poor contact this should fix it. If it still doesn't work then you may want to try reseating the video card to see if that helps. If still no luck I would try the monitor on a different PC and try a different monitor with your PC, try to isolate whether the problem is the monitor or the PC. Hopefully this gets you going again. =-)

I have tried all of that but the damn thing still flicks when it feels like it.

Oh well another in the long list of things I have to sort out.

I tried getting in touch with dell about it but they were no help. They just kept on telling me I needed to extend the cover for it bofore they would even listen to the problem.

It has been behaving itself over the last few days so I will wait and see what happens.

thanks for the advice,

Manic

I suggest changing the monitor cable, this is usually the cause of the problem.

I would but the cable is molded into the case.
