monitor coating question

Does the coating on my monitor screen affect the picture quality. I washed the screen with windex and i'm not sure wether i damaged the coating. All the coating is is anti-static right? Nothing I should worry about for image quality? I have a NEC Multisynce FE770 Flat screen monitor.

Years ago I had an NEC monitor with a "special" anti-glare screen (coated with the same stuff used on the space shuttle windows). The instructions warned you to use a special cleaning agent available from NEC -- it wasn't cheap. When I called NEC to order it, the woman whispered to me, "use Windex." I did. It worked fine and didn't affect the coating whatsoever.
