I have a Packerd Bell Legend 820cd. When i turn it on this is what i get. for a message. There is a problem with your display settings. The adapter type is incorrect or the current settings do not work with your hardware. Every time i move the mouse the screen goes crazy i have trried to change the settings but i guess i am not doing it right. Can anyone help? Thanks Dave.

Have you reinstalled your video adapter's drivers? What has been changed recently?

I put this computer up about 8 months ago and never changed anything. My wife was playing games on it than.I am giving this to a friend that wants one so when i turned it on this is what is going on. Where would i find driver adapters?

Well, good question. Its a Packard Bell, so its old. You'll have a hard time finding them on the web. First thing, do you have the disks and manuals that came with the computer?

Okay, right click on My Computer, left click on Properties. Go to the tab that says Device Manager. Do you see any yellow or red marks? If you click the plus sign next to display adapters, what is listed? If you double click that item, what does it say about that device?

Try the following:

Right-Click on "My computer"
Select "Properties"
Click On "Device Manager"
Double click on "Display Adaptors"
You will now see the display adaptors that are installed on your PC.
***The do one of the following***

If more than one is listed then single click on the bottom one and select remove. Repeat this step each time until there is only one entry left. Then restart your system. This should then try to re-install the correct drivers

If this fails or if there is only one entry then single click on the single entry and then re-boot.
(you may need your windows cd or the drivers cd for your video card).
If Windows detects the card correctly then follow the on-screen instructions to re-install the drivers.
If all goes well then you should be alive and kicking once again.
Please note: Re-installing drivers varies from machine to machine. You may also need to re-install direct x in some cases. You also may need to refer to the vendors guide for re-installing drivers.

Regards
