Customer with an older MICS & Flash 4 with Call center is complaining about the "MOH" They are using an Ipad right now. What I am wondering if they go to a better source, like a tuner or such. Does anyone have thoughts on if this will have any improvement on the playback quality to the holding parties? I know a lot depends on the holding phones quality, cell phones etc. Just really looking for confirmation that it is what it is.

Before swapping sources, I would put a butt set on the cross connect point of the source and the MICS and sample the sound quality at that point. More than once I have found an improvised phono cable punched down with stranded wire that resulted in poor sound quality-- also look to see if a stereo cable was used with both L and R channels bridged, and if so, try using only the right channel as the source. You would also rule out any AC source noise introduced due to a poorly routed or unshielded audio cable. You would also be able to see if the output volume was too high and causing distortion.

If that is clean, then you can make sure your source matches the input requirements for the MOH on the MICS.

After that, I would move on to looking at source player as well as the type of music being used (in terms of frequency range).

What is the actual complaint?
Low Volume?
Static?
Cutting out?
Not in 7.1 format? (LOL) Quality?

Bring a little transistor radio and compare if a quality issue.
