Internally - Music on hold is crisp and clear
Externally - Mildly distorted and the jumpy

Our MOH is an advertisement of services with music in the background. If we put a caller outside on hold, the advertisments jumps from one subject to the next. It is consistantly at the same spot.
We are only using one stream for MOH. I have tried reloading the file (with no errors) multiple times.

If I place an extension on hold internally, its perfect.
Outside calls are not as clear as the internal, but do not know if thats related or not.
I would assume the problem would be at one of the gateways (I have 4 remote locations, all H323). No errors on the eth connections.

Any ideas?

Have you tried to change your input gain and output attenuation on your gateway.. Assuming you have a PRI!!!!

example
voice-port 0/0/0:23
input gain 1
output attenuation 2

Almost sounds like a playback buffering issue. Could be DSP resource issue also depending on your codec used. Are you using the MOH file from the CME flash? That may be a stupid question as I don't know if you can use external MOH on CME off the top of my head.

jeter - we do not use PRIs. Just copper

pndscm - I do not use and external MOH, but yes you can set one up on 6.0 from what I can see.
I upload the file thru the CCM admin portal.
I thought it could be a codec, but the skips are consistently in the same spots and I thought if it was a mismatch they would then hear TOH or Tone on Hold.

My tech support create a new region and set everything to G.729 for the new region. That did not help.

However, now the skips/clips happen internally on MOH as well as externally. So I am now worse off then before.
Any ideas on where to look?
I have reloaded the file multiple times even using different file names.

Can you check the setting you have for the MoH on Service Parameters Cisco IP Voice Media Streaming App. Check if you have the rights codecs selected. Remeber that g711 & g729 are excellent for voice, but not so good for audio files.

Caos is the natural order of things...

Added <codec g711ulaw> to the dial-peer xxxx voip
on one of my gateways for testing. This corrected the quality issue.
However, when the call would be transfered to my IPCC it would get disconnected.
So now I am wrestling with getting all the codecs to be in line. will also move the MOH file to each gateway so the remote sites will provide it locally.
Thanks,
Dan
