I have a customer who is pulling music off of a satellite receiver for all of his overhead background music and he wants to also have this music as the MOH music for a CICS. Since there is no volume control at all out of the sat receiver I need to put in some sort of interface in between the sat receiver and the CICS.

I was looking at a Viking M2W 2 watt amp but am concerned that this might get too much power out for the CICS MOH port. The book says the CICS is expecting .25V RMS at 3500 Ohms, this looks like that 2 watt amp (calculated to be 4 v at 8 ohms) could blow the input port.

Does anyone have a suggestion of what to use as an interface.

Thanks JerryReeve

You can goto Radio Shack and purchase a variable resistor that is designed for this type of application. I have used it off CD players output that was not adjustable.

Good Luck!!

that wouldn't affect the other amps they have on the sat receiver would it?

If you have an RCA splitter and only put the resistor on the one leading to the MOH port then you should be ok. I dont think you need any power type interface but radio shack or others would help you no doubt.

Jerryreeve,

No, you would split the output of the satalite reciever. Run one to the amps and the other to the variable resistor, then into the phone system.

Good Luck!!

OK Thanks much to all JerryReeve
