Is there a way to just turn MOH off globally? The CM system was recently upgraded to 4.1 and the sample source is some techno music. Some phones are pionted to the sample source.I found the file on the server but can't seem to replace or delete it?????Thanks in advance.
I would stay away from deleting the default MOH files...
There are a couple of ways to turn off MOH. You can go into CCMAdmin and remove the MOH servers completely from your system (don't worry, you can always add them back in later). Callers on hold will then hear the Tone on Hold (described below) instead of music.
A less drastic approach would be to go to CCMAdmin --> Service --> Media Resouce --> Music On Hold Server, select a MOH server, and change the run flag to "No." This will unregister the MOH server (the Status will show "Not Registered"), and instead of hearing hold music, users will hear Tone on Hold (three short beeps every 5 or 6 seconds). Personally, hearing the Tone on Hold repeatedly makes me want to stab myself in the eye with a pen, but some people prefer it.
Other than the two methods listed above, I don't know of any other way to turn off MOH globally. Maybe someone else on this forum knows of other ways...?
Also, if you do remove the MOH servers from CCMAdmin and then add them back in, you'll have to restart the IP Voice Media Streaming Application on the CCM(s) you chose to host the MOH (unless you have a dedicated MOH server, I don't know how you have your MOH set up) to get the servers to register again. I just tried this out on my test CCM lab.
system>device pool>device pool config> then change drop down box for "network hold MOH source" and "User Hold MOH source" to "None"....and click "update"
do this for each device pool
YOU WILL BE RESETTING ALL PHONES IN THAT POOL when you click update I believe, so wait until after business hours
Thank you all for your responses.I will try and turn it off at the device pool level after hours and reset the phones. After setting all device pools to none and resetting the phones if I go to a single phone and chg the hold fields to either sample or fixed audio source will I get MOH on that set--I don't want to is my point.
jimmeec - Yes, if you set the field as MG2005 said above to None, then go to a specific handset and set the MOH, that handset will play MOH to any caller that it puts on hold.
