I have a partner ACS system that I am planning on adding a 012e to. The current setup is this:

Slot 1: 400E (Lines 4-7)
Slot 2: Partner Messaging R1 (ports 24-29)
Slot 3: Partner ACS (Lines 1-3, Ext. 10-17)
Slot 4: 308EC (Ext. 30-37)
Slot 5: empty

The manual seems to indicate that this arrangement is incorrect or can lead to problems. Am I going to have any problems adding in the 012E?

Thanks,
Jordan

Well, here's the thing: you have a huge gap in your extension numbering. You jump from Ext. 17 to Ext. 30. Don't your users wonder why no one is on 18 through 29?

If you're already set up this way, fine, put the 012 in the last slot, and it will give you 38 through 49.

But if this is a new install, here's what I would do:

Slot 1: 308EC (Ext. 18-25 and Lines 4-6)
Slot 2: 012 (Ext. 26-37)
Slot 3: Partner ACS (Ext. 10-17 and Lines 1-3)
Slot 4: Partner Messaging R1 (Ports 38-43)
Slot 5: 400E (Lines 7-10)

Last question: What is the release of your ACS? Will it accomodate the 012 Card??

The system is R5.0

I do not know why it got setup the way it is. I far as I can tell nobody has ever complained about the jump in extension numbers.

I would like to move 3 of the lines from the 400e to the 308ec so we can have caller ID on our lines (7 goes straight to VMS). I assume those lines would be 8-10 and would just need to be assigned to all of the stations as such, correct?

Thanks,
Jordan

If you don't want to change the ext numbers yes, just reassign all of the lines on all phones- as a tech I have seen systems set up with gaps in the extension numbers & it makes me wonder why things were set up that way. If I can I will usually rearrange the boards as long as the cust is ok with it

Thanks for the recommendation on putting the modules in order.

I still have a small gap in my extension numbers:
25 is dead (last port on m 308ec), 26, 27, 28 are set aside for equipment

Putting the modules in order let me:
close the extension gap
get caller ID on my 6 primary voice lines
add fax to line 8, which is not assigned to any extension by default
Get things a little more cleaned up

Thanks,

Jordan
