We will be migrating to the Modular Messaging Voicemail system in about two months. I currently have a test S3400 in our lab and I'm having trouble with a few things, but one in particular I'm looking for help on. The S3400 is connected via QSIG PRI to an Avaya S8700. When the S3400 uses the Call Me App to page on urgent, I am not receiving an ANI on my cell phone. Since the system is dialing out on a member of a trunk group, it would seem that I need to attach an ANI to the trunk group for outbound calls. I have tried setting the number in the origin number in the QSIG setup for PBX configuration, but that didn't work, and I haven't had any luck finding where to set it at in the S8700. I would appreciate any suggestions you all may have.

Thanks.

After speaking with both the PBX side for Avaya, as well as the Modular Messaging side, I have determined that this cannot be done. Not supported, can't do it, and in a future release seem to be the three standard answers for all feature related questions to this product. Near as I can tell, it should be Modular Messaging's responsibility to provide Calling Party Number on a QSIG member. However, on a system that cannot even support multiple time zones, I should have expected as much. So, if anyone plans on having the system call the user's cell phone if there is an urgent message, the user should expect to see Unavailable for a caller ID. That one will not go over very well here. If anyone has any other knowledge of this working on a T1/QSIG integration to an Avaya switch, I would love to hear how.

Thanks.

i am not sure what you are asking do you mean that you want the MM system to page and put in the ANI number from the person that called from the outside ?

or are you saying that you don't recive the caller number from a outcall to you cell. and if that is so do you get it if you just call your cell from any phone on the s8700?

Using the Call Me application, which is how the page on urgent notification is sent, I would like to have the main pilot number of our voice mail hunt group sent as the ANI. That way the caller ID on my cell phone would show the main number for voicemail, and I would know that I have an urgent message.

Using the Find Me application, which tries to locate me if someone hits my mailbox, it would be nice to insert the ANI of the incoming party. That way my cell phone would show the caller ID as if the person had called my phone directly.

So, to answer your first question, I expect Modular Messaging to behave differently based on which application it is using. Call Me should send for Calling Party Number the number that I enter into the origin number on the setup of the PBX type QSIG in Voice Mail System Configuration. Find Me should send for Calling Party Number the incoming caller ID number if it has it, otherwise it should send the origin number.

As for your last question, yes I do receive caller ID on a normal call from the S8700, which means that we are sending it, and my cell phone is receiving it.

Does this make more sense?

Thanks.

I am sure that it can be done. We sell an app for the 250 and 350 that does the same thing and it shows the ani of the caller. I will see if i can find out more info on this.

Just for my info why are you moving to the MM ?

Right now on a Find Me call it also shows unavailable. As far as why we're moving to the MM, we had a Centigram system that integrated nicely with our Fujitsu voice network. Now that they are no longer in the PBX market over here, we are migrating to an all Avaya network, and just moved to an S8700 at our HQ this year. The MM seems to offer the best integration with the Avaya PBX's, and the Octel platform is going away. That pretty much sums it up.

Thanks.

That is strange that it is showing unavailable ? does the PBX have to be setup to allow the sending on the ext number making the call ?

That's where the problem is. Its not an extension making the call. The connection between the S8700 and the Modular Messaging system is QSIG/T1. The MM dials out on one of the members of the trunk group, but there are no individual extensions. For inbound calls, we go through a hunt group that routes the call through AAR to the trunk group.

Thanks.

Oh ok i see. I am going to check with some of my contacts and let you know if i find anything

Just FYI this is what i got back from TAC

There are settings in the trunk groups to send caller information and name. You may have these set to N.
These are shown in the Config Note. If all else is working and they cannot find this then get it escalated to the next Tier in PBX support.

I checked these out and they are all set to Y. I still think its an issue in the Modular Messaging system. Avaya is working on this for me, so if I find a fix I will post it.

I have a solution to this problem, and its actually pretty straight forward. On the first page of the trunk group in the S8700, there is a field called Incoming Calling Number. In the insert field, enter the number that you want to be shown on calls coming from Modular Messaging into the switch.
