Is there a way to get 2 modular messaging mailboxes into 1 outlook profile? What I have is a user that has his normal extension, then he also has a tech support mailbox that he monitors. Right now his voicemails for his extension go directly to his outlook inbox, but I would like to add a second extension to also go to his inbox. Can this be done?

Thank you,

I believe all you have to do is setup his outlook to pull the messages from the second mailbox..
just set it up the same way the first one is... and put in the new ext # and password

when i am in outlook, i do tools, options, then i click the voice mail tab. when i click desktop user interface options, it only has a space for 1 extension, no password is needed. i tried separating 2 extensions with a comma but that did not work. i am unable to insert a semi colon. any other options?

ah.. I have it setup a little differntly...
in outlook, under services, I setup internet messaging, for the Modular Messaging...
under servers, I put the ip address of the modular messaging server for both POP3 and SMTP servers, and under username I put the extension#, and password in password..
When a user leaves me a message, it gets transfered to my e-mail..
(Only thing though is I cannot 'respond' to the voicemail through outlook)

What if you entered the "tech support" mailbox as a second extension in the users "normal" mailbox? This would force incoming vmail from both MM mailboxes in to one account -- the one which is managed in Outlook. The only problem here is that I believe both mailboxes hear the primary or in the above example "normal" mailbox greeting.

I just want to correct my post regarding the use of a secondary extension. Based on my testing (I'm running MM 3.0 with (2) MAS units, a MN (message networking server) and an Avaya message store), it appears that you can assign any extension as a secondary extension to a MM mailbox as long as that extension isn't also assigned a MM mailbox.

For example, extension 5555 is the primary extension and 2222 is the secondary extension. Ext. 5555 has a MM mailbox, 2222 does not. Both extensions have cover paths that will direct the call to Modular Messaging after a specified amount of rings.

In that example, calling either x-5555 or x-2222 would get you to 5555's MM mailbox and play the active greeting for x-5555. This allows you to manage two extensions from one mailbox. The obvious drawback is that you can't have a separate greeting for x-2222.

I suppose you could build this as an application with separate prompts for each extension, then terminate them in to a single MM mailbox. ??

Interesting, i would need 2 separate greetings though. I will try to talk with them and see if they can get by with just 1 greeting though.

Thank you
