Happy New Year To All- In 2006 we will be implementing 8700.8500 at 9 locations. We are looking at the corporate office as the main hub. Initially we were looking at putting Modular Messaging at each location. However, it has been suggested that we may only need it at 2 locations. We have taken this to 3 locations. 1 in East, 1 in West, I in the Midwest, I know there are benefits in doing this hardware cost, administration cost etc. But, what are the non-benefits of doing something like this? I one of the MM locations go down I believe they can all be programmed to re-route over the local PSTN or if you wanted even better DR backup you could have Pt to PT T1’s at each one of the MM ing locations. Just looking for some helpful advice on this most recent question that has come up. I’d like to save the company money and it seems buying 9 MM units for each location is overkill. Help! Suggestions? Thank You So Much!

You may be able to reroute auto attn calls to a differant MM but i don't see how you could do this with voicemail. You would need to have all of the mailboxes programed on all of the MM systems and that would not work if they are networked as there would be a conflict.

There is a White paper from Avaya on centralized voicemail. I can send it to you if you want it. The main considerations were Outcalling and Time Zones. Otherwise, I think Ken Means makes some good points.

Yes you can also use the SBS feature that lets you use the PSTN to route calls but this is for a single MMA or other VM system with many PBX's
