I have a fedora core 2 installed on my laptop.

During boot I have an error in modprobe because it can't insert the floppy module, in fact I have no floppy on my laptop.

How can I configure my linux to stop having the error in every boot?

Thanks in advance

is the floppy module present in /lib/modules/kernel-vers/drivers/??

it shouldn't matter whether you have a floppy installed or not. can you post the error msg?

While searching for new hardware, I get this error (sometimes twice):

modprobe: FATAL: Error inserting floppy (/lib/modules/2.6.5-1.358/kernel/drivers/block/floppy.ko): No such device

I'm sorry if it took me so long....

I didn't find any /etc/modules.conf , I'm using Fedora Core 2

I am having the same problem with an ABS Mayhem G1. It will not boot. Keeps stopping at modprobe: FATAL: floppy not inserted (something along those lines, anyway). It is a Core 2 dual boot with XP. I did specify the hard drive geometry during the core 2 install and XP still boots fine. I have tried commenting out the floppy line in /boot/grub/device.map. I have tried adding 'alias floppy no' to /etc/modprobe.conf. Nothing is working to get past this.
