HI.
I need to update the values of the Dynamic Tracking on our FC cards. I read that this can be done live but it seems that the child of the FC card have to be in a defined state.

In one doc, i read that i could do a rmdev -l fscsi0 -R to get the child devices defined. Then i could run my chdev...then a cfgmgr to bring it all back...

We have 2 FC per boxes, so technically, my connection to my SAN would stay up fine...

But, if i were to do a datapath set device 'n' path 'm' offline for all path connected to my fscsi0, would i be able to do my chdev as well?

SHould i bring down the port on the SAN first? or that does not matter?

Thanks.

exportvg
rmdev -dl hdisks
rmdev of the fcs,fscsi,fcnet
chdev of your fc's
cfgmgr
importvg

That's the only way to do it.Tried it "live" , everytime I got the child error as well.Checked with IBM and they said to follow the above procedure

rgds,

R.
