I have a need to make a small modification to default.htm.

However, I have found it is not as easy as I was led to believe.

I have found that if I open default.htm with Frontpage and make NO CHANGES but simply save it right back to its original location, when I then bring it up with I.E. browser, I have lost portions of the page.

Anyone else have experience with this ?

I wonder if the problem could be that I am editing the default.htm from a local workstation instead of from the server ?

Make sure you are using Front Page 2002 - any other previous version is incompatible. After making a change in default.htm - go to Site Settings - Customize Home Page Layout and click the "Save" button - this will restore your page.
