Hello
Don't even know where to start with this - any help much appreciated.

What I would like is to have a number of shortcuts on the desktop, some of which have standard right-click context menus, other shortcuts to have standard right-click context menus with additional menu options added, and other shortcuts to have no right-click context menus at all!

Thanks
Kate
sorry about duplication but I didn't realise this forum existed.

You should implement and register a COM object with IShellLink interface. John Fill

Dear John

Thank you for your reply.

Am I right in thinking that I'm using the COM to create my own variety of "shortcut". Do I have to write this from scratch or can I base it on the windows shortcut?

Also in registry I have lnk and lnkfile - could you explain the diff please.

Thanks
Kate

1. You can associate every you want for every kind of shortcuts from your program. It means a special registration + a special implementation.
2. Link is a meaning of a link. Fisically it is a file on the harddisk with extention .lnk(lnkfile). It is a file like many others, but in windows you see them as links(shortcuts). John Fill
