Modifying Announcements

I have group that are continually request to have custom announcements recorded and inserted into their queue programming. As this is becoming time consuming I have asked to look for a way grant them access to change the announcement for their queue but no other announcement on the system.

That I am aware of the ability to recorded modify messages is system wide setting based on whether their COR can access the “Access Announcement Code “feature code. Is there way grant access to just one specific announcement?

Or is there another solution out there that would accomplish the same result say using a modular messaging box. If so what would the steps be in the vector?

To my knowledge there is no way to restrict which announcements a station can record. Simply put if the station has a COR with access to record announcements it can change any announcement on the system.

Perhaps the best way forward would be to give them access but make their announcement number one that is no where near the others on the system. For example if all your announcments start 201xxx make theirs 888888 then so long as they are not aware of the other announcement numbers they will not accidentally overwrite it.

Other than this I cannot suggest anything sorry.

I'm on vacation, so I can't test this out right now.

But if you have CM 3 or higher that has variables, could you possibly write a vector that would collect the announcemnet number to re-record and assign it to a variable, check the number against entries in a Vector Routing Table (to make sure it's one they should change) then have the vector dial the FAC and Variable to allow them to re-record?

have you tried to protecect the annoucement, when you add annouecment.. there is an option to protect those annoucement.

What I finally did was program a button for them on a phone that autodials the FAC and the announcement. Explained to them how to record.
