Modifying Access Requests

When someone in our organization requests access, the request looks as follows:

Domain\UserID is requesting access to:

http://sharepoint....

Is there a way to have the user ID resolve to the Outlook display name or email address? Or is there a way to modify these in gerneral? We've just had a few people complain that they have to go and look up the user Id to actually know who the person requesting access is. We're just using WSS, AD, and it is not available externally. Any help or useful links would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

You will most likely have to build your custom webservice to be able to do this. Out of the box it is not possible. It might be possible for you to edit the page being displayed for the access request (where the user click the send request) and you could maybe there add a field for the user requesting the access to fill in the email address or something.
