modify the lenght of a field of an attached table in sql 6.5

SO, I am quite new and I would like to find out how I can modify the size of a field from a attached table in sql 6.5
I think is something with drop table and after recreate, but I have no idea how to do it. I would need just an information about how to start at least

You would have to modify the table in SQL. After you've done that for Access to recognize it you would have to drop the table and re-add it in Access
