Using CR 8.5...
What is considered to be the best way to add/modify the SQL "WHERE" criteria for CR reports? It seems there are several ways (the "Select Expert", editing the SQL statement, perhaps others), and when I've used the Select Expert the editing of the SQL statement gets "conflict" messages. 8<{{
I usually have multiple criteria (compound expressions and/or uses of formulas), and the ultimate logic always evolves as I get more requirements during development. So, I'm asking for advice on the _best_way_ to create & modify the SQL "selection". TIA

My experience has been that it is best to directly modify the SQL statement. I view the select Expert as a tool that helps you with record selection, not a SQL writing tool. The formula editor is different(in CR 9 and XI which i use) as it will take Basic Sytax or Crystal Syntax.

My opinion... go to the source, modify the SQL statement directly.

In 8.5 you can only modify the where clause of the "show SQL query", not the select or from clauses. You are better off going to report->edit selection formula and entering your criteria there.
