Modify .exe created by SMS?

Person who created the .exe using SMS has left and we'd like the .exe to install a newer version of one file. Is it possible to open the .exe and modify? I have an eval version of SMS 2003 R2 Custom Updates Publishing Tool. thanks

It depends on what they made it with, look around for an ipf file Perhaps they made it with SMS installer, then it is compiled to a exe, SMS installer can also open some exe files depening on how it was made. SOmetimes blah.exe /x works to see what is in it also.

There is an ipf file accompanying the .exe. Does this mean it was created with SMS installer and should be able to be modified as well? thanks

It looks like the only action SMS will allow me to do with a file is to import a .cab file only. I used Resource Hacker to open the .exe but the results didn't show me much other than it has been created by SMS. thanks

yes the ipf file was more than likely used to make the exe, so edit the existing ipf with sms installer to make the changes you want and recompile it to an exe
