First of all I need help in figureing out how to load picture files like bmps and Gifs
maybe even jpegs in grey scale.

Second I want to know about mode x i've heard about it and have yet to find out what it is. And I would like to know if it would help me with some of my programs and if it could where to find it like is there a special library for it or a program out there that I could use and how to use it.

Oh and I know that it's kind of iffy as to whether or not it will help my programs but lets just say graphics programs.
