Hi, I want to update my Modem (V34 Standard) to V90 but it's a noname Modem (Interspeed), I didn't find them in the net.
How can I update it. Have I to use a firmware or is there another way?
Yes, you need a firmware (flash) update.
If the manufacturer can't be found, you're pretty much out of luck.
Pull the modem, and write down everything you can find on it, numbers, names, anything on the PC board itself, especially an FCC ID# or a BABT #.
Does this look familiar:
for more info re your modem go to Start > settings > control panel > modems > diagnostics > More info (while your modem is not connected)...btw some modems do not have flashable roms...
Sorry for the second posting, but a third one I can't remember ?!? My fault, it will not be happen again, I just thought of posting in the false forum!
The Site seems to be the right one, but there are two possible downloads, a driver and a firmware update.
Since I use AOL I think I don't need the driver installed?!?
Start with the firmware update.
Make sure it's the right one, and don't force the flash if you get any error!
You probably don't need a new driver, but it's advisable. Cheers,
Jim
The update to V.90 will (theoretically) make it faster, but AOL has such poor servers, and your phone lines may not be the newest, so you may not get any speed increase. Cheers,
Jim
