Ive just purchased an external modem (SupraMax V.92 USB) how do i install it. I assume it isnt a winmodem due to it being external but linux cannot locate it. When i boot up winME the red light on the modem comes on but it doesnt with linux.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

N.B This maybe usefull:
When i goto modem properties in windows it says it is connected to port4.

you need tohave the module installed you ccould do this by

insmod /dev/modem

I am not sure on the syntax but check the man pages it will give you the correct syntax.

This may not be why Linux is not reconizing your modem but it gives you a place to start looking. Dave
