Modem Slows Down In XP Pro!

Hey! I recently updated to XP Professional and when I did my modem speed decreased to 14k! It worked just fine before running at about 50k! I tried modems boosters and such but nothing seems to help! Could someone help me please?

Follow the specific hardware identification information for your modem and update your drivers for the modem.

hey bcastner, thanks for the help but i did that and still no such luck. I have updated drivers and everything, any other suggestions?

Step #2:

Run a tweak test, and adjust following the recommended results from this site:

http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks

Use the free DrTcP utility and set RWIN and MTU to the suggested values.

Step #3: for the pure hacker. You can adjust some values in the registry to make the TCP/IP service as clean as possible. Note: Not for the faint hearted:

You may have to spend a little time exploring the site.
The advice is quite good, but comes with a double Bill Castner warning this is not for the casual user.
