I have an IBM T40 notebook who's modem is a victim of lightning (I believe). It will work on occasion but more often than not will not detect the dial tone. In any event, when I simply plug the phone line in to the computer it seizes the phone line without me trying to connect and will not release the line until I unplug it.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it and updated the driver but nothing has changed.
Might anyone have any other suggestions before I order a new modem?
