Modem Port Always In USE

AHHHHHHH
I've got a problem my moden - conexaunt V92 - says that the port is always in use when ever i try to connect to the internet.
the problem started after I had a power failur caused by a thunder storm could it be that my modem has gone bad

I've tried changing the slot
changing thet port
disabling it and enabling it again
uninstalling it and reinstalling
scan for virus comes up empty
PLEASE HELP

Is the modem passing the windows diagnostics check?

If you try a hyperterminal session and type in the modem command 'AT&F' does it respond with OK?

May also want to try flashing the modem firmware to the latest release (should be available on the manufacturer website)

No it is not passing the diagnosis test It says the modem is being used by another application

will try other parts
