I've got a whole bunch of CS1000 systems, various software releases, hardware types, etc. that I'm supposed to connect to remotely. I can access most of them, however sometimes I will connect and the only response when I type anything is X.

I know that other users are able to connect to these modems. I have verified that my modem is set to 9600 N-8-1. Any thoughts on what may be causing this?

it may be a lower baud rate. Check different baud rates, and force your application to connect at that rate.

If I connect to a system and get "xxx" etc when I press return then it's usually that I've connected at a higher speed. I tend to use more than one type of modem and somethines I have to connect at a fixed baud rate. Usually I dial out with auto baud set.

All the best
